This is my first installation of MS SQL Server 2k on the MS Server 2000 operating system successfully. Problems begin with the installation of the MSDE 2000 Release A showing that the instance is invalid. Please help.

Hello and welcome to msdner.com. As you have posted in the Members Introduction Forum, I have copied your query to the Windows Forum and moved it to the SQL Server Forum. I am hopeful that experts there may be able to help you with your SQL Server installation problems.|||http://technet2.microsoft.com/WindowsServer/en/library/937ecfe9-e8e0-41ac-85f7-4b65956f3d1e1033.mspx?mfr=true

Thanks to your replys. I did the following steps:(1) I reinstalled the SQL2kServer and instead of "default" i entered my instance name "microa". (2) in the MSDE2000RelA i installed a new instance name like "micro9". (3) in the upgrading MSDE2000 Sp4 i entered setup /upgradesp sqlrun INSTANCENAME=micro9 /L*v C:\msdelog.log
All the above setup was completed, now i will run into SQL and will let you know the status. Thanks again for your valuable time.
