are you aware of problems, gotchas of running MS SQL 6.5
on windows 2000? is this a supported combination?
please forward me any references on this or share your
personal experience.
we are trying to convince the clients to change from MS
6.5 to the recentmost version of sql server when they go
to Windows 2000.
thanx much.
sajal.Well, for one, I don't think that 6.5 is supported anymore. IMO, that is
enough.

One thing to consider is that you need to have 6.5 sp5a...

move from 6.5 because of resource issue at this time, but
they do not have a choice as far as OS is concerned.

As Tibor said, unsupported.
However, it does work OK. Just don't go using EFS (encrypted file
system) for the folder containing the data files, as it will be
unstable.
For parallel development, you can even run SQL 6.5 and 2000 on the same
box side by side. Install SQL 6.5 first, then install SQL 2000 as a
named instance. This might save you some resources when you do get
around to converting to SQL 2000 (or Yukon, if that's when you get
around to it

NB: I'm not suggesting you run 6.5 and 2000 on the same box in
production, mind you!
cheers,
Ross.
