Where do I find the Management Studio to install on my laptop?
I've just installed MS SQL 2005 on a SBS 2003 machine in the office, and it
says I cannot use regular old EM to register the server on my laptop.
Apparently there are more people having the same problem. Microsoft should
address this issue in a KB.
Thanks

|||Well - I found it...
Just like in the old version, it's installed from the same CD (actually
DVD!) that the server is installed from.
The difference, and what stopped me from going forward, was the I had to go
truly far into the install process - even putting in the product-key - to get
to a selection list that allowed only the CLIENT TOOLS.
On a laptop that's already running MS SQL 2000 developers edition - that was
a big leap to take - possibly installed MS SQL 2005 on the laptop - which I
did not want to do.
The readme and help files are pretty vague in this area.
But at any rate - I've got it installed now on the laptop and it can see the
MS SQL 2005 server on the network and can even see my laptop instance running
MS SQL 2000.
Now I get to play!

The difference that struck me was that you were told early on in the install
process with SQL 2000 that the CLIENT TOOLS were only available (as the
machine is a workstation!).
With the SQL 2005 install CD you go through many steps, including the
licence-key (not required with SQL 2000 client install).
This appears that you are installing SQL SERVER on the workstation, but you
finally get to a selection screen where you just check off client tools...
