|||As stated in the link Dejan provided, you need a server OS to run Standard
Edition. However, the Developer Edition provides the same features as the
Enterprise Edition with licensing restrictions and can run on a client OS
like XP Pro.

I have a test database that needs to be installed on a laptop running XP Pro.
If memory serves me correctly, there is a free downloadable personal edition
of SQL server that will run on a laptop. Is there such a beast? If so what
is it called and what is the link to download it from.

Analyzer and your database is no more than 2GB in size then MSDE is what you
are looking for:

MS SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition! Need Help!

hi everyone, i am doing a project on asp.net and i'm want to use the sql server 2000 EE and is using WinXp Pro.
I have problems installing the s/w. It says "Microsoft Server 2000 Enteprise Edition Server Components is not supported on this OS. Only Client components will be available for installation."
Is it true that i can't install SQL Server 2000 EE on XP Pro?
And is it true that i can only use the Standard Edition?

a) MSDE
b) SQL Server Developer Edition (available through MSDN Subscription etc)
c) SQL Server Personal Edition

MS SQL & Visual Studio 2005

I want to install SQL on the same machine as VS 2005 Pro for development.
While trying to install the version of SQL that comes with the VS 2005 Pro
I'm getting error messages and the SQL engine will not start. Is it
possible to have the SQL install on the same machine as the VS 2005 or do I
need to install the personnel edition instead? What should I do?
